New tour of Pakistan!
FRYD sets off for a new tour of Pakistan leaving Norway on Nov. 9th. The tour is put together by the Norwegian Concert Institute (Rikskonsertene) and will be FRYD's 5th visit to Pakistan. The tour "FRYD - Suroon Kay Sung - Sangeet Kay Rang" will see new collaborations between FRYD and Pakistani musicians. Shallum Xavier (guitar), Chand & Suraj Khan (vocals), Baqar Abbas (flutes) and Bashir Khan (tablas) will participate from Pakistan. FRYD performs at MELA!
Together with fellow musicians from Pakistani pop act Fuzön, FRYD will perform this coming Sunday at the MELA festival in Oslo. Guitar player Shallum Xavier and drummer Louis "Gumby" Pinto will arrive this week to join the band at Rådhusplassen (venue). Click here for the MELA website.

Recording TV-special in Karachi!
Whilst in Karachi, FRYD was approached by HUM TV in order to appear on their Galaxy Music Concert 2005. FRYD were joined by Shallum Xavier from FUZÖN on guitar and Gumby (Luis) Pinto on drums for the LIVE TV performance. Several Pakistani top artists appeared in the same show. The concert was recorded Dec. 16th and will be aired on HUM TV this New Years' Eve!

08.12.05 - 14.12.05 - Karachi, Pakistan
Filming and recording in Karachi!
Throughout their visits to Pakistan, FRYD has been approached by several TV companies in order to make a rocumentary and music video while collaborating with Pakistani musicians. Music and video recordings were started in Karachi in December and will most likely continue throughout 2006. More news on this will follow.

FRYD performs for the Norwegian Prime Minister!
As part of an official reception hosted by the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Islamabad, FRYD performed together with Dhol masters Gonga & Mithu Sain. The reception was held  in honour of the Norwegian Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg's official visit to Pakistan.

29.11.05 - 03.12.05 - Lahore, Pakistan
FRYD in the recording studio!
As part of the collaboration during the World Performing Arts Festival, FRYD and collaborating Pakistani musicians recorded 3 songs in the legendary FOLK Audio Recording Studios. The studio has recorded a number of great Pakistani artists as well as most work of the late Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.

28.11.05 - Lahore, Pakistan
FRYD performs in closing ceremony!
Following the performance held at the Governor's mansion in Lahore, President Musharraf anounced that he would be attending the closing ceremony at the World Performing Arts festival at the Alhamra Cultural Complex. FRYDs collaboration with Pakistani musicians were one of the leading acts in this closing ceremony.

27.11.05 - Lahore, Pakistan
FRYD performs for President Musharraf!
During the President of Pakistan's private visit to Lahore, an intimate concert was planned and held at the Governor's mansion in Lahore with special invitees only as guests. FRYD together with 7 others acts performing at the World Performing Arts festival were asked to perform. At the end of the soiree, President Musharraf personally thanked the musicians participating.

24.11.05 - Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
FRYD continuous on to K.L.!
As part of the Telenor cultural program, FRYD was asked to perform 2 concerts in Kuala Lumpur as part of the 150th anniversary of Telenors' and the 10th anniversary of DIGI.
The first concert was performed yesterday downtown Kuala Lumpur with the gala concert taking place the following day at the Grand Ballroom, Westin Hotel.
This is Mocci and Ingrid's second trip to K.L.

21.11.05 - Lahore, Pakistan
FRYD headlines the "Jazz night" at the World Performing Arts Festival!
As part of the cultural exchange program at the World Performing Arts Festival, FRYD was put together with 7 Pakistani musicians representing classical and traditional Pakistani music. This collaboration consisted of Chand and Sooraj Khan on vocals (sons of Ustad Hussain Bukhsh Khan), Ustad Shabbir Hussain Khan on tablas, Bakar Abbas on flute, Mazhar Shaggan on rabab an mandolin and brothers Gonga & Mithu Sain on Dhol drums. After 3 rehearsal days this collaboration kicked off the "Jazz night" at this years' World Performing Arts Festival. See gallery for photos.

FRYD opens the World Performing Arts Festival!
FRYD arrived in Pakistan Nov. 15th and after 2 days in Karachi with meetings with GEO TV, FRYD continued to Lahore where they as one of 7 acts opened the Lahore World Performing arts Festival at Alhamra Cultural Complex.

Aid concert for earthquake victims in Pakistan!
FRYD together with Pakistani pop act FUZÖN helped organise and performed a support concert for the earthquake vitcims in Pakistan at Fabrikken (venue). The concert was a collaboration with Utrop.no and Bollywood.no as well as the Norwegian Red Cross who also had representatives at the concert. Other performers at the concert included electric harp player Sidsel Walstad and Abdulrahman Surizehi on Benju. Despite Ramadan, the will and need to help the earthquake victims were evident as the Norwegian and Pakistani audience donated money to the cause.

FRYD/FUZÖN performs in Oslo Spektrum!
FRYD together with Pakistani pop act FUZÖN performed at the 150 anniversary of the Norwegian telecom company Telenor in Oslo Spektrum. FRYD/FUZÖN performed alongside artists such as Morten Abel, Bertine Zetlitz, Peter Jöback, Benedicte Adrian, Lise Karlsnes and Kåre Conradi. The  show was recorded on tape and the edited version will be broadcasted on TV2 in December.

Missing after earthquake!

FRYD will open the World Performing & Visual Arts festival on November 18th in Lahore, Pakistan. FRYD will also perform with Pakistani musicians during the festival. A studio recording is planned to document this collaboration with Pakistani musicians. Keep checking this site for concert dates.

FRYD has been invited to perform at the World Performing & Visual Arts festival in Lahore, Pakistan. As a special project during the festival, FRYD will collaborate with Dhol players Gonga Saeen & Mithu Saeen, tabla maestro Ballu, classical vocalist and master of Hindustani music Ustad Mazhar Shagan as well as Rafaqat Ali Khan exponent of Sufi music.

FRYD documentary in Pakistan!
After meetings with GEO TV during their last visit to Pakistan, it has now been decided that GEO TV will make a "Rocumentary" about FRYD and their projects in Pakistan. Filming is scheduled to start November/December this year.

FRYD returns to Pakistan!
FRYD will perform in Islamabad on May 17th during the Norwegian National Day celebration. The event is hosted by the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Islamabad. FRYD will also continue to Karachi for meeting's with GEO TV in regards to a planned music video as well as working with the members of Fuzön.

During their stay in Pakistan, FRYD managed to meet with one of the top TV channels in the country in order to discuss a possible collaboration for a music video. More news on this will follow.

FRYD performs in India!
Mocci and Ingrid from FRYD appeared in concert in Delhi this weekend. FRYD felt definite fryd as they were invited to ride local elephants after spending only 20 minutes in the country. See gallery for photo.

22.03.05 - Lahore, Pakistan
FRYD appears on national TV in Pakistan!
On invitation from FUZÖN friend Shafqat Amanat Ali Khan, FRYD was invited to the set of the TV-soap "Rubber band" in Lahore. The director of the TV series invited FRYD on set and soon they found themselves filming an entire scene with the "crazy" girls from Norway! The show will air in Pakistan the following week.

15.04.05 - Islamabad, Pakistan
FRYD performs for the president of Pakistan General Pervez Musharraf!
After 2 days of rehearsal with the Pakistani pop act FUZÖN, FRYD together with halling dancer Mads Bøhle successfully opened the Telenor launch in Islamabad. The event was transmitted via satellite TV to Norway. FRYD surprised the Pakistani audience by singing in Punjabi and Urdu and experienced standing ovations as they performed with FUZÖN.
